Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi emphasized on Thursday the necessity of cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region to maintain border security and prevent smuggling.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisor's media office released a statement detailing that al-Aboudi met with Fares Issa, the head of the Kurdistan Region's representation in Baghdad. They discussed ongoing coordination and cooperation efforts between the federal government and the region, aiming to enhance security and stability both nationally and regionally.

The statement highlighted that the meeting reviewed significant regional challenges and underscored the importance of maintaining border security, preventing smuggling, and continuing the exchange of information in combating terrorism and organized crime.

Al-Aboudi stressed the necessity of ongoing coordination and cooperation within the framework of the government program, aligned with the directives of the Iraqi government. These directives emphasize the importance of national unity and the integration of roles among political partners.
