Baghdad: The advisory board of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has convened to address the pressing issue of residency permits for Iraqi students currently studying in neighboring countries amid ongoing conflicts.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Acting Minister Abdul Hussein Al-Moussawi and included senior staff and presidents of public universities. The discussion emphasized the necessity of ensuring that Iraqi students complete their remaining residency permits within the legal frameworks of the host countries, thereby facilitating smooth procedural requirements.

The session was attended by key figures such as the head of the Parliamentary Education Committee, Adel Al-Rikabi, and committee member Hassan Al-Masoudi. The Advisory Board has tasked the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations with the continuous monitoring of the situation, coordination on any developments, and taking necessary measures as per the applicable regulations.

In addition to the residency issue, the Advisory Board deliberated on authorizing college and institute deans to form investigative committees. These committees will address cases involving medical students' equivalency and parallel equivalency exams. The board also highlighted the importance of academic rigor, improving performance efficiency, and maintaining the quality of graduates from both public and private universities.
