Najaf: Criminal and misdemeanor courts in Najaf province have handed down sentences to several individuals for crimes ranging from murder to the squandering of public funds.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Criminal Court imposed life imprisonment on seven individuals who were found guilty of murder. These verdicts reflect the judiciary's ongoing efforts to address serious criminal offenses within the province.
Additionally, the Misdemeanor Court, which deals with corruption cases, delivered prison sentences to individuals convicted of misappropriating public funds. Among those sentenced were key figures from the Najaf Cement Plant, including its director, the director of oversight, the head of the procurement committee, the head of the valuation committee, and a department head. These sentences are part of a broader initiative to combat corruption and uphold financial accountability within the region.
