According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barzani will arrive in Damascus on Monday, August 3, 2026, where he will hold a meeting with al-Sharaa. The discussions are expected to focus on the relations between Erbil and Damascus, as well as the situation of the Kurds in Rojava, also known as Western Kurdistan.
The visit is part of Barzani's ongoing mediation efforts, which are aimed at ending the fighting and clashes in the region. He is also expected to address the issue of halting the Syrian forces' attacks on Rojava, as part of his initiatives for peace and stability in the area.
