Ramadi: Aiming at strengthening social cohesion and peace, as well as supporting reintegration efforts to build a more stable future in the province, Ramadi in Anbar province hosted a community reconciliation conference on Monday.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the conference was held under the auspices of Anbar Governor Omar Mishaan Dabbous, with the participation of representatives from the National Security Advisory and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), to discuss ways to consolidate stability and support the return of displaced families.
The conference is part of broader efforts to achieve social peace and sustainable stability by reintegrating families displaced by terrorist acts since 2014 and the following years, said Sheikh Ahmed Sajid Jassim, head of the Al-Malahma tribe. Jassim noted that the conference marked a significant achievement in fostering communication and cooperation between various security and intelligence agencies and tribal leaders.
The meeting tackled crucial issues, emphasizing a firm rejection of terrorism while aiming to support families not involved in such acts and reintegrate them into society, thus contributing to consolidating security. Tribal leaders and residents near Al-Wita village reportedly showed positive engagement with the reconciliation and reintegration efforts, with security forces and the local government helping to alleviate related concerns, Jassim added.
Jassim also emphasized that the reconciliation process would exclude those implicated in terrorist crimes, stating, "The blood of the victims is sacred, and those proven to be involved in terrorist crimes cannot be allowed to return to society."
Anbar Provincial Council member Saad Ghazi Al-Muhammadi noted that the conference, held in collaboration with the National Security Advisory, specifically addressed the return of Al-Wita village residents to their homes. Al-Muhammadi affirmed that the Provincial Council prioritizes the return of all displaced persons and supports initiatives that enhance social cohesion between tribes and the local government, considering stability and return as integral responsibilities towards Anbar's people.
