Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced on Monday the arrest of 132 foreign workers in the Rusafa district of Baghdad who violated residency requirements, while confirming the continuation of procedures to regulate the labor file. The Ministry's official spokesperson, Colonel Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoun, shared details of the operation, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with residency laws.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Colonel Al-Hassoun stated, "The Ministry, under the directives of Senior Undersecretary Hussein Al-Awadi, is continuing its efforts and security and legal procedures aimed at regulating the foreign worker file and ensuring residents' compliance with applicable legal regulations and conditions." This initiative is part of a broader strategy to maintain order and enhance the security landscape in Baghdad.

He elaborated that the Baghdad-Rusafa Police Command conducted a large-scale security operation in the Rusafa district, which involved checking residency documents of foreign workers. This operation resulted in the arrest of 132 individuals of various Arab and foreign nationalities for violating residency regulations. This crackdown underscores the Ministry's commitment to enforcing residency laws and addressing legal violations.

Colonel Al-Hassoun further explained that these efforts are integral to the Ministry's plans and directives to bolster security and stability. The Ministry is actively coordinating with relevant authorities, particularly the Directorate of Residency, to pursue those who breach regulations and laws.
