Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed Iraq’s keenness to benefit from the expertise of South Korean companies operating throughout the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated that al-Zaidi met with the South Korean Ambassador to Iraq, Lee Joon-il. The ambassador delivered a written message from South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. In the message, President Lee congratulated al-Zaidi on the formation of the government and emphasized the strengthening of relations and partnership with Iraq, aiming to serve the mutual interests of both countries and their peoples, and to help Iraq overcome current international economic challenges.

During their meeting, al-Zaidi stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations and working together to expand cooperation in sectors such as investment, energy, and technology. He highlighted Iraq’s eagerness to collaborate with and benefit from the expertise of South Korean companies that are already operating in the country.

The Prime Minister also expressed the government’s interest in attracting more South Korean investments to Iraq, especially in sectors like the automotive and electronics industries, where South Korea possesses extensive expertise. He pointed out the opportunities and incentives offered by the Iraqi government to enhance the investment climate and implement economic reforms, which are aimed at meeting the needs of the Iraqi market.
