Baghdad: The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring predicted a gradual decrease in temperatures across most of the country’s cities after mid-August, with the influx of a relatively moderate air mass.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Authority’s Weather Forecasting Department explained in a statement that the expected decrease is linked to the movement of a relatively moderate air mass from southern Europe towards the Middle East and Iraq. This shift will contribute to a gradual change in the weather and a reduction in the intense heat currently affecting the country.

The statement added that most cities in the country are currently experiencing hot to very hot weather, with temperatures continuing to rise. However, these temperatures are expected to gradually decrease after mid-August, at varying rates depending on the region.

The Weather Forecasting Department confirmed that it continues to monitor weather developments and analyze the latest data and numerical models. This ongoing analysis aims to provide accurate and reliable weather forecasts and updates, supporting government agencies and citizens with the necessary information to take appropriate measures.
