Baghdad: The Ministry of Education is taking significant steps to enhance the English language skills of its teaching staff by training 1,200 teachers and 60 English language leaders. This initiative aligns with Minister Abdul Karim Abtan al-Jubouri’s directives to improve teaching standards and create more specialized training opportunities across the provinces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry emphasized its commitment to this goal in a statement where the Director General of Cultural Relations, Majid Kamel al-Shammari, discussed the outcomes of the current training programs with Akram Ezz El-Din Daniel, Director of English Language Programs at the British Council. The discussions also covered the preparations for enrolling new groups at the beginning of the academic year.

The Ministry’s statement indicated a proposal for establishing a partnership between the educational supervision system and British educational institutions. This partnership aims to enhance the skills of educational supervisors through training and interaction with native speakers, thereby facilitating the transfer of expertise to the field. The British Council has expressed its willingness to explore the implementation mechanisms of this proposal, marking a potential step forward in educational development.
