Baghdad: The Sudanese president recently convened with the head and members of the Iraqi Industries Union, reaffirming his commitment to support national industry through legislative and executive means. This meeting, led by the head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, focused on revitalizing the industrial sector in Iraq.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani met with Adel Akab, the head of the Iraqi Industries Union, and several union members to discuss strategies for enhancing industrial projects and national production. This meeting aimed to ensure factories’ continued operation and to monitor the implementation of government decisions that support the sector and its sustainability.
Al-Sudani highlighted the importance of maintaining pharmaceutical projects and ensuring the consistent supply of medicines, crucial for citizens amidst the financial crisis. He expressed his commitment to overcoming challenges that these projects face to guarantee pharmaceutical security and boost citizens’ confidence in Iraqi products.
The meeting also addressed issues related to fuel supply disruptions affecting industrial projects, exploring urgent solutions. Legislative support for industrialists was another focal point, with al-Sudani confirming that his parliamentary bloc would review amendments to the Labor and Social Security Law to benefit industrial projects and their employees. Additionally, the review and support of the Industrial Development Law in Parliament were discussed.
The session concluded with a pledge for ongoing executive and legislative backing for the Iraqi Federation of Industries, alongside a commitment to tackle challenges impeding industrialists, thereby fostering comprehensive economic development in Iraq.
