Baghdad: The Ministry of Oil has pledged its support for research centers and the localization of oil services. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Extraction Affairs, Naseer Aziz, stated the Ministry’s commitment to advancing research, development, and cooperation with specialized centers to aid the growth of the oil sector and the localization of oil services.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry highlighted that Naseer Aziz met with officials from the Iraqi Oil Services Center (IOS) to discuss the center’s ongoing operations, potential areas for collaboration, and opportunities to expand its role in the oil sector.
Aziz underscored the Ministry’s dedication to backing research, development, and specialized centers due to their significance in transferring expertise, nurturing national talent, and localizing oil services. He also noted the importance of rehabilitating and efficiently using government assets and equipment.
He further stressed the need for enhanced cooperation between oil companies and the IOS as a national partner in project implementation. Aziz directed a review of the suitable legal framework to support the center’s activities and broaden its operations. This is expected to bolster the capabilities of the oil sector, increase revenues, and support the national economy.
The Iraqi Oil Services Center (IOS) represents a strategic partnership between Basra Oil Company, the Arab Company for Well Logging and Oil Services, and its partner, Gilgamesh Oil Services Company.
