Amman: Iraq achieved a significant sporting success in the West Asian Table Tennis Championship, as schoolchildren from the Dhi Qar Education Directorate secured a total of four medals, consisting of one gold and three silver.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Education announced that these accomplishments were made by young athletes competing in the championship held in Amman, Jordan. Player Athmar Aqeel emerged as a standout performer, clinching a gold medal and an additional silver in the under-15 category. Meanwhile, player Karrar Ali excelled in the under-13 category, securing a silver medal, and player Elaf Salem added another silver in the under-15 category.
Minister of Education Abdul Karim Abtan al-Jubouri extended his congratulations to the students, acknowledging the abundant sporting talents present in Iraqi schools. He emphasized their potential to compete and succeed in international arenas, thereby elevating Iraq’s name and reputation on the regional stage.
