Baghdad: The Baghdad Rusafa Police Command announced the discovery of dilapidated war remnants in the Zaafaraniya area, situated south of Baghdad. The operation was carried out by the Zaafaraniya Police Department and Zaafaraniya Rescue Patrols, in collaboration with intelligence and ground forces.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discovery was made inside an abandoned gas plant. The remnants found included ammunition of various calibers and smoke grenades. A specialized explosives expert was called to manage the unexploded ordnance and to ensure the site was secured.
The police command confirmed that all necessary procedures were executed by the relevant police station, adhering to legal protocols. This discovery highlights ongoing efforts to address the presence of war remnants in the region.
