Shortage of School Land Becomes Priority for Baghdad Officials

Baghdad: The Minister of Education and the Governor of Baghdad have set the shortage of school land as one of their top priorities for resolving the issue. Minister of Education Abdul Karim Abtan al-Jubouri recently convened with Baghdad Governor, Engineer Atwan al-Atwani, and his delegation to deliberate on the availability and need for increased allocation of land dedicated to educational purposes, particularly in areas experiencing rapid population growth.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry released a statement where the Minister emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Education, the governorate, and other official entities to designate new land for school construction and to alleviate overcrowding. He specifically noted the urgency of prioritizing land allocation in densely populated urban areas where such land is scarce.

Al-Jubouri also pointed out the significance of community-driven initiatives in donating land, with a focus on directing these efforts towards the most densely populated regions. This approach aims to address the shortage of school buildings and accommodate Baghdad’s expanding population.
