Mosul: The Nineveh Antiquities Inspectorate has commenced extensive meetings to spearhead the reconstruction of the tourist city of Al-Shalal, located north of Mosul. This initiative symbolizes a significant step towards revitalizing the region’s tourism sector and enhancing its economic prospects.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Nineveh Antiquities and Heritage Directorate has launched these meetings to outline a comprehensive plan aimed at rehabilitating the area. Ruwaid Al-Layla, the Director of the Directorate, emphasized that the discussions are focused on developing the infrastructure and services of Al-Shalal, thereby elevating its standing as a key tourist destination in Nineveh.
Al-Layla highlighted that the development project would respect the area’s unique heritage and environmental aspects, ensuring that its identity is preserved while creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors. He further stated that the initiative is designed not only to boost tourism and the local economy but also to attract more visitors by adhering to standards that protect the cultural and environmental heritage of the area.
