Basra: Following his injury in a confrontation with a drug dealer, Basra expresses its readiness to transfer an officer for treatment outside Iraq. Basra Deputy Governor Maher al-Amiri confirmed that the head of the Basra Higher Security Committee, Governor Asaad al-Eidani, expressed great concern for the health of the officer who was shot yesterday while confronting a drug dealer. During his visit to the wounded officer, he stated that the governorate is fully prepared to send him abroad for treatment if necessary.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Amiri praised the role of the security forces in carrying out their national duty of pursuing drug dealers and traffickers, emphasizing the continued security efforts to combat this scourge. He noted that security forces were able to arrest a drug dealer in possession of quantities of narcotics and weapons.
A joint security force arrested a drug dealer yesterday who had fled after opening fire on a detachment from the Basra Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control, wounding the detachment commander.
