Egypt and Oman Coordinate Efforts to Restore Strait of Hormuz Navigation

Egypt: Egypt announced that a joint declaration is being drafted, in coordination with the Sultanate of Oman, aimed at restoring navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty stated in a press release that Cairo is in contact with the Iranian side as part of its efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, in addition to engaging with various regional and international parties. He emphasized that political and diplomatic solutions are the only way out of the current crisis, warning of the repercussions of continued escalation on regional security and the global economy.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abdel-Aty added that Egypt is continuing its contacts, particularly with Iran, to push for a return to the negotiating table and to work towards restoring navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that there are ongoing communications with the Iranian side, especially regarding efforts to de-escalate tensions and return to the negotiating table.

The Egyptian minister continued, “The quadrilateral meetings, which include Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, represent a platform for political dialogue and security consultations,” highlighting the importance of the upcoming Arab ministerial meeting in Cairo next month to discuss the security challenges facing the region.
