Turkish President Erdogan Reaffirms Commitment to Global Humanitarian Leadership

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed on Wednesday that Turkey continues to lead the world in providing humanitarian aid relative to its national income, emphasizing the ongoing support for those in need and those affected by crises worldwide, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this statement was made in a post by Erdogan on his social media accounts, marking World Humanitarian Day. He stressed that providing aid is an approach deeply rooted in Turkey’s history and cultural values. Erdogan stated that Turkey continues, “thanks to the strength we draw from our history and our rich cultural values,” to set an example in humanitarian work that “transcends politics.”

The Turkish president added, “We remain the country that provides the largest amount of humanitarian aid in the world relative to our national income.” He pointed out that more than 300 million people around the world lack the most basic necessities and struggle to survive in difficult circumstances, considering this reality a necessity for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities.

Erdogan affirmed Turkey’s commitment to helping the oppressed, orphans, and those in need, and to standing by those without support, in accordance with the teachings of Islam. He emphasized that Turkey will continue to provide humanitarian aid to those in need wherever they may be.

The Turkish president concluded by reiterating his country’s continued support for those in need in various parts of the world, particularly the Gaza Strip, and its dedication to being “a source of hope for the oppressed and afflicted around the world.”
