Iraqi Martial Arts Champion Withdraws from World Championship Over Israeli Matchup

Abu dhabi: An Iraqi mixed martial arts champion, Dhari Al-Obaidi, has officially withdrawn from the World Championships taking place in the United Arab Emirates. This decision came after he was scheduled to face a competitor representing Israel. Al-Obaidi stated that his withdrawal is rooted in his steadfast stance on the Palestinian cause and a rejection of normalization with Israel in any form.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi champion expressed that although he had significant sporting aspirations, including the desire to secure a world medal that would elevate Iraq’s status globally, his national and humanitarian principles take precedence over any sporting achievement or title.
