Basra: After obtaining the necessary judicial approvals, detachments of the National Security Service in Basra Governorate dismantled a dangerous network specializing in forgery and fraud. The operation led to significant arrests and the seizure of substantial assets linked to fraudulent activities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation began with the arrest of a primary school principal who was involved in forging and processing land compensation documents related to the West Qurna oil field. This fraudulent activity resulted in the embezzlement of billions of dinars. During the operation, authorities seized 36 official seals belonging to governmental and tribal entities, along with large sums of money and real estate acquired through the criminal activities.

The investigations, following the initial arrest, led to the identification and apprehension of two accomplices. One of the accomplices is reportedly a department director in one of the governorate’s districts. This brings the total number of detainees to three. The suspects were detained according to legal procedures and have been referred to the competent authorities for further legal action.
