Basra Council Seeks Temporary Legal Solution for Health Card Issue After Shop Closures

Basra: The Legal Committee of the Basra Council is actively pursuing a temporary legal solution concerning health cards for projects established on agricultural land. This initiative follows the recent closure of 2,529 shops, which has sparked appeals related to the adverse impact on citizens’ livelihoods.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Zahraa al-Salmi, the head of the Legal Committee in the Basra Provincial Council, confirmed in a press release that the committee is committed to addressing this issue. Al-Salmi emphasized that the closure of these shops directly affects citizens’ livelihoods and their families’ well-being. She highlighted that procedures should not deprive citizens of their income sources and that the temporary solution will be maintained until a permanent resolution is achieved. This resolution will aim to uphold the law while safeguarding citizens’ livelihoods.

Al-Salmi further explained that the committee is diligently working to finalize the legal solution, which will subsequently be presented to the Basra Provincial Council for a vote. She underscored the importance of ensuring that the law serves as a regulatory tool that protects everyone’s rights, rather than becoming a barrier to their livelihoods.
