Field Monitoring of Pilgrims’ Movement in Samarra

Samarra: Pilgrims continued to flock to the city of Samarra from various regions to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hassan al-Askari (peace be upon him), amidst intensive security and organizational measures aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of pilgrims and their performance of the pilgrimage rituals.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Security Media Cell stated in a press release: “In implementation of the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and with direct and continuous follow-up by the Director of the Commander-in-Chief’s Office, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir al-Shammari, Lieutenant General Dr. Saad Maan, representing the Commander-in-Chief’s Office, arrived in Samarra to observe firsthand the movement of pilgrims and monitor the security and organizational measures taken to secure the pilgrimage.”

He was received by the Samarra Operations Commander, where they discussed and reviewed the procedures for organizing the movement of pilgrims, particularly their entry and exit mechanisms, as well as monitoring their return after the pilgrimage rituals.

This on-the-ground monitoring comes as part of the commitment to implementing the security and service plan for the pilgrimage, coinciding with the continued influx of visitors towards Samarra. This aims to secure their routes, regulate the movement of vehicles and crowds, and ensure their smooth return.

Security forces and supporting agencies continue their efforts to monitor the movement of visitors on the routes leading to Samarra, and to strengthen organizational and security measures in conjunction with the peak of the commemoration ceremonies marking the martyrdom of Imam Hassan al-Askari (peace be upon him).
