Baghdad: Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Haibat Al-Halbousi, emphasized that Iraq will not be drawn into conflicts that do not benefit its citizens or national interests. This statement was made during a ceremony celebrating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Halbousi remarked that Iraq has endured significant challenges due to terrorism, extremism, and division. He acknowledged the sacrifices and unity of the Iraqi people, which led to victory during tough periods in the country’s modern history. Al-Halbousi stressed the importance of transitioning from crisis management to establishing a robust state, enhancing its institutions, and delivering better services to its citizens.

He underlined the duty of the state and its constitutional bodies to protect Iraq’s renowned diversity and safeguard the rights and freedoms of all citizens. Al-Halbousi called for legislation that fosters social cohesion and supports stability, emphasizing the need for continuous legislative and oversight functions to address issues impacting citizens’ lives.

Al-Halbousi noted the challenging circumstances and ongoing tensions in the region, asserting that Iraq requires wisdom and unity more than ever. He reiterated the necessity of maintaining Iraq’s security and sovereignty, ensuring it is not dragged into conflicts that do not align with the interests of its people or nation.
