Baghdad: President Nizar Amedi affirmed on Monday Iraq’s support for the Libyan solution process and for preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi Presidency’s Media Office stated in a press release that President Nizar Amedi received the envoy of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Taher Salem Al-Baour, who is in charge of managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with his delegation, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad.

The statement noted that during the meeting, developments and current events on the Arab and international scenes were reviewed. Emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening consultation and coordination between Iraq and Libya regarding current challenges to support security and stability in the region.

The President emphasized the necessity of strengthening relations between Iraq and Libya and expanding areas of cooperation to serve the common interests of both nations, particularly in economic fields and addressing market economy transformations. He expressed his hopes for the success of the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee’s work to reach decisions that enhance bilateral cooperation.

He further stressed the importance of prioritizing dialogue and understanding in the current regional stage, adopting solutions that benefit the peoples’ interests. He affirmed Iraq’s commitment to supporting the Libyan-Libyan solution process, preserving Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and rejecting any interference in its internal affairs to maintain its security and stability.

The official envoy from Libya conveyed greetings from the head of the Libyan Government of National Unity to President Amedi. He emphasized Libya’s keenness to strengthen relations with Iraq and appreciated Iraq’s supportive positions for Libya’s stability and security.
