Baghdad: President Nizar Amedi affirmed on Monday Iraq’s support for the Libyan solution process and for preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi Presidency’s Media Office issued a press release stating that President Nizar Amedi welcomed the envoy of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Taher Salem Al-Baour, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad. Al-Baour, responsible for managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was accompanied by a delegation.
The meeting focused on developments in the Arab and international arenas, emphasizing the importance of strengthening consultation and coordination between Iraq and Libya to support regional security and stability. The President highlighted the necessity of enhancing relations and expanding cooperation, particularly in economic fields and market economy transformations, to serve the interests of both nations.
President Amedi expressed hopes for the success of the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee in reaching decisions that would advance bilateral cooperation. He underscored the priority of dialogue and understanding at this crucial regional juncture and reiterated Iraq’s commitment to supporting the Libyan-Libyan solution process, respecting Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and rejecting interference in its internal affairs.
Taher Salem Al-Baour conveyed greetings from the head of the Libyan Government of National Unity and emphasized Libya’s keenness to strengthen relations with Iraq, appreciating Iraq’s supportive stance for Libya’s stability and security.
