Alanya: Besiktas suffered their first defeat in the Turkish Super League, losing 1-0 to Alanyaspor at the Gin Park Stadium last night in the second round of the competition.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the first half ended goalless, despite Besiktas having a slight advantage and squandering several clear-cut chances to open the scoring. The first real opportunity came in the 21st minute when South Korean Hyun-Gyu Oh delivered a cross that was met by Nigerian Wilfred Ndidi with a header, but Brazilian goalkeeper Paulo Victor made a comfortable save. Czech Vaclav Czerny almost gave Besiktas the lead in the 39th minute with a shot from the right wing, but Paulo Victor made a save to tip it over the bar for a corner.

In the second half, both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances before Alanyaspor finally broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute. Portuguese midfielder Nuno Lima rose to meet a corner kick from Hungarian Florent Hadr¡gyon¡y, heading the ball into the net. With this result, Alanyaspor moved up to fifth place with four points, while Besiktas remained in eleventh place with three points.

In another match of the same round, Gen§lerbirligi secured their second consecutive victory, defeating G¶ztepe 1-0 away from home to top the league table with six points. Malian striker Sekou Koita scored the only goal of the game in the 51st minute, just one minute after Cameroonian Malcolm Mputu missed a penalty for the home side, giving his team three valuable points.
