Yanbu: An oil tanker was attacked by an “unidentified projectile” off the coast of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, on the Red Sea, causing a fire on board, as reported by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
According to National Iraqi News Agency, UKMTO received a notification of the incident occurring 63 nautical miles west of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The attack has raised concerns over maritime security in the region.
A security official from the company that owns the tanker reassured that all crew members are safe and their well-being has been confirmed. Furthermore, it was reported that no environmental impact has been detected as a result of the attack.
