Doha: Al Rayyan overcame Al Shamal to advance to the final of the Qatar Cup. Al Rayyan’s qualification for the final came after defeating Al Shamal 5-4 on penalties in the semi-final, following a 3-3 draw in regulation time.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the intense match saw Roger Guedes of Al Rayyan scoring in the 24th and 74th minutes, with the latter being a penalty. Julien de Sart contributed to the scoreline with a crucial goal in stoppage time at 90+6 minutes. On the opposing side, Al Shamal’s Wesley Saeed scored twice, in the 27th and 63rd minutes, while Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane found the net in the 54th minute.
The thrilling encounter, which saw both teams battling fiercely, concluded with a nail-biting penalty shootout that ultimately favored Al Rayyan. This victory secures their spot in the highly anticipated final of the prestigious Qatar Cup.
