Semnan: The judiciary in Iran’s Semnan province announced on Monday that two individuals involved in the attack on Iraqi students have been identified, indicating that the provincial prosecutor has issued summonses for the two individuals to appear before the relevant security authorities.
According to Iraqi News Agency, ‘Two individuals involved in the clash that occurred in front of the residence of Iraqi students at Semnan University have been identified. The judicial investigation is ongoing to identify all those responsible for this incident, and those involved will be dealt with according to the law,’ said the head of the judiciary in Iran’s Semnan province, Mohammad Sadegh Akbari, to the Iranian news agency IRNA, reported by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He added that “following a clash between a number of citizens and some Iraqi students in the vicinity of their residence, the matter was immediately placed on the agenda of the judicial and security apparatus in the province.”
“Judicial orders have b
een issued by the Public Prosecutor of the provincial capital, and two individuals involved in the incident have been identified and summoned to the relevant security authorities. Investigations are ongoing to identify the remaining individuals who influenced the clash,” he pointed out.
Akbari noted that “what some media sources have published about the incident does not reflect the reality of the situation or the initial findings of the investigation. The full extent of the incident must be assessed based on official reports and the supplementary investigations being conducted by the relevant authorities.”
The head of the judiciary in Semnan province affirmed that “the judicial system in the province is seriously pursuing all aspects of this incident, and that, after the investigations are completed, all individuals found to have played a role in this clash and the disruption of public order and security will be dealt with legally and judicially.”
Earlier, the Iraqi Embassy in Tehran moved to investigate
the circumstances of the incident, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported by INA.
The embassy dispatched a committee ‘to check on the students’ well-being and to liaise with the relevant Iranian authorities to follow up on the investigation,’ stressing ‘the necessity of taking legal action against those responsible,” emphasizing ‘the importance of providing suitable conditions that guarantee the safety and security of Iraqi citizens in Iran and ensure that such incidents do not recur.”
