New york: American Ben Shelton reached the quarterfinals of the US Open, the last of the four Grand Slam tournaments, by defeating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-4. Shelton will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, American Frances Tiafoe, the eleventh seed, also secured his place in the quarterfinals with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) victory over former champion Daniil Medvedev of Russia. Tiafoe will face his compatriot Alex Mikkelsen, who defeated Argentine Thomas Martin Echeverry 7-6 (8-6), 6-4, 6-4.
