Basra: The Basra Operations Commander, Major General Atheer Hamza Jassim, has directed an intensification of surveillance and control measures along the border strip, emphasizing the need to close any gaps that could be exploited for illegal activities. Major General Jassim has ordered heightened readiness and vigilance levels, stressing the importance of immediate and decisive action against infiltration, smuggling, or any legal violations.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a visit to the Fourth Border Guard Region Command headquarters, Major General Jassim declared that border security is an uncompromising responsibility. He underscored that any infringement upon the security and stability of Basra will not be tolerated. The visit included an inspection of the monitoring center and a review of the live video transmission system that covers the entire area of responsibility, demonstrating the commitment to securing the borders with neighboring countries and enhancing Iraq’s overall stability and security.
The Operations Commander received a security briefing from Major General Hikmat Halim Dhaya, the Fourth Border Guard Region Commander, detailing the current security situation, troop deployments, and executed duties. Major General Jassim also evaluated the work of the monitoring and control center, along with its mechanisms for monitoring and tracking, acknowledging the significant efforts of the Fourth Border Region Command in maintaining border security.
