Faihan Calls for Immediate Halt to Demolition of Houses on Agricultural Land in Iraq

Baghdad: Local governments and the Baghdad Municipality must halt any operations to remove or demolish houses built on agricultural land in all Iraqi governorates. The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, emphasized the need to stop these operations to protect the rights of families and ensure their stability.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan released a statement urging local governments and the Baghdad Municipality to discontinue any activities aimed at demolishing houses on agricultural land across Iraq. He highlighted the importance of safeguarding the rights of families and maintaining their stability by halting such operations.

The statement further outlined the necessity for municipalities and relevant authorities in the governorates to update the basic, urban, and service designs for each city. It also called for finding suitable alternatives to guarantee adequate housing and a decent life for every Iraqi family. Faihan also stressed the importance of preventing any new operations to bulldoze orchards and agricultural lands or to illegally divide and convert them into residential plots. He urged legal action against those who commit these violations to preserve agricultural resources and prevent haphazard expansion.
