Mosul: Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil affirmed that “the project to modernize and expand the master plan of Mosul represents an important step towards drawing up a comprehensive and sustainable urban vision for the city’s future.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, speaking during his participation in a conference presenting the outputs of the first and second phases of the project, al-Dakhil said, “This project, implemented by the Italian company Studio Galli Ingenieria, aims to establish modern planning foundations that respond to the demands of population growth and urban expansion, and support the development of infrastructure and services in Mosul.”

The conference, held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, reviewed the results of the two completed phases: the first, which involved field surveys, data collection, and studies; and the second, which focused on data and indicator analysis and formulating project objectives in preparation for moving to the third phase.

The conference was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Nineveh Provincial Council, several council members, directors of planning and agriculture departments, specialists, the executive director of the Italian company, and its project staff.

The updated master plan for Mosul is part of efforts to reorganize the city’s urban expansion and accommodate its future needs, in line with the reconstruction and development projects underway in Nineveh.
