Zurbatiya: The Border Ports Authority has announced the seizure of five vehicles at the Zurbatiya border crossing due to violations of import regulations, leading to losses surpassing 31 million dinars.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Border Ports Authority detailed that the Zurbatiya border crossing directorate, after forming a joint committee with supporting departments and obtaining approval from the investigating judge of the Badra Court, seized five vehicles. These vehicles were loaded with single-use “takeaway” goods, which are protected under local product regulations.
An audit conducted revealed discrepancies in the customs duties, resulting in a significant loss of 31,352,000 Iraqi dinars (thirty-one million, three hundred and fifty-two thousand dinars) in public funds. The Authority emphasized that a formal seizure report was prepared, and the vehicles have been transferred to the Zurbatiya Customs Police Station. The matter is set to be presented before the investigating judge of the Badra Court for legal action against those responsible, in accordance with the law.
