Applications for Central Admissions to Government Universities Now Open

Baghdad: The Minister of Education has announced the launch of applications for central admissions to government universities for the upcoming academic year 2026/2027. This initiative was revealed by the Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Hussein Al-Moussawi, and is set to cater to students applying through both the general and martyrs’ families channels.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has provided specific guidelines for applicants. Graduates from the scientific branch are required to fill out 50 choices, ensuring that at least ten are institutes or polytechnic colleges. Similarly, graduates from the literary branch must select a minimum of 25 choices, with ten being institutes or polytechnic colleges. Arts branch graduates have ten choices, with at least two being institutes or polytechnic colleges.

The Ministry emphasized that students who graduated in the first round, as well as those from the second round, need to submit their applications electronically through the Qadam Platform until Sunday, October 4, 2026. The application process has been streamlined for graduates of distinguished schools and Baghdad College, who are instructed to use the general channel form. This unified form aims to facilitate the application process and ensure timely enrollment while maintaining the applicants’ entitlements.

Furthermore, students from martyrs’ families are advised to contact the Martyrs Foundation and its affiliated directorates to verify their data. To assist students, a comprehensive Student Guide is available, detailing universities, colleges, departments, and institutes that align with applicants’ preferences and competitive scores. For further assistance, students can reach out to the Technical Support Center via phone at (5560).
