Baghdad: Baghdad Mayor Ammar Musa Kadhim said on Wednesday that shifting to digital administration represents a key pillar in improving the performance of cities.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Kadhim made these remarks during his participation in the first panel discussion of the Arab Cities Conference, held in Salalah in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate. The conference was titled ‘Cities of Tomorrow… How Do We Lead the Transformation Today’. He highlighted that population and urban expansion, along with pressure on infrastructure, pose challenges but also present opportunities to build more efficient and sustainable cities.
Kadhim emphasized that using and analyzing data aids in making more accurate decisions, improving service efficiency, and responding to citizens’ needs. He noted that the shift to digital administration is crucial for enhancing city performance and the level of services provided.
He further pointed out the importance of balancing urban expansion with infrastructure development as a key factor in enhancing the quality of life. Kadhim stressed that exchanging experiences and successful practices among Arab cities can open broader prospects for innovation, sustainability, and urban transformation.
