Turkey Introduces New 50 and 5 Lira Banknotes

Ankara: The Central Bank of Turkey has announced the introduction of new 50 lira and 5 lira banknotes into circulation. These new notes are part of the ninth series of 50 lira notes and the eighth series of 5 lira notes. The bank stated that the issuance is authorized under Law No. 1211, and the new notes will circulate alongside the existing series.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the primary change in the new banknotes is the signatures they bear. The 50 lira note now includes the signature of Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan and Deputy Governor Gazi Ishak Kara. Meanwhile, the 5 lira note features the signatures of Governor Fatih Karahan and Deputy Governor Fatma –z§el.

The Central Bank of Turkey confirmed that there will be no alterations to the dimensions, double-sided design, general features, or overall appearance of the notes from previous series. This ensures that the denomination and basic shape remain the same. The bank emphasized that the release of these new notes will not result in the withdrawal or invalidation of previously circulating banknotes, as all issues will remain valid for use alongside the new banknotes.
