Tikrit: The Integrity Commission has arrested the director of the investment department in Tikrit Municipality for promoting investment transactions and granting land plots in violation of the law.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Federal Integrity Commission released a statement saying that its personnel in Salah al-Din Governorate apprehended the director for deliberately violating official duties to gain personal benefit at the state’s expense. The arrest operation was conducted by the Salah al-Din Investigation Office.

The commission’s statement highlighted that the director was involved in promoting investment transactions to grant land plots through surface rights without obtaining the necessary legal approvals. This activity was deemed a clear violation of the law. The operation, which was based on a warrant from the judge of the Salah al-Din Investigation Court specializing in integrity cases, resulted in the seizure of several documents related to the Tikrit Municipality at the suspect’s residence.

Additionally, during the raid, authorities found sums of money in both dinars and dollars, along with a collection of gold jewelry. The investigating judge has ordered the suspect’s detention as per Article (331) of the Penal Code, which deals with violations of official duties.
