Baghdad: The Baghdad International Book Fair events will host a dialogue session with the Algerian novelist Said Khatibi. As part of the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, a dialogue session was held with the Algerian novelist and journalist, Said Khatibi, within the fair’s cultural program. The session was moderated by Jumana Mumtaz.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the session, Khatibi discussed his literary experience and his journey in the world of novels and writing, highlighting his most prominent creative milestones and the awards he has received, including the 2026 International Prize for Arabic Fiction for his novel “Aghlab Majra Al-Nahr” (I Overcome the River’s Course). This novel addresses the repercussions of the Algerian War of Independence and the period preceding the “Black Decade” in the 1990s.

The session, attended by a number of those interested in literature, witnessed extensive discussion and interaction from the audience through interventions and questions that addressed Khatibi’s experience and his novelistic career.

It is worth noting that Said Khatibi, an Algerian novelist and journalist residing in Slovenia, received his education at the University of Algiers and the Sorbonne. He has authored several novels that have won Arab and international awards.
