Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi also ordered an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attacks and the sides behind them.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Sabah Al-Numan stated that the Iraqi government condemns the attacks on the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reaffirms its rejection of any aggression that threatens the kingdom’s security and stability or undermines the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries.
Al-Numan added that the Iraqi government appreciates the Kingdom’s position and its response to efforts made by Iraq to contain the situation, reflecting its commitment to Iraq’s security and stability, and to continuing the course of fraternal relations and cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
In this context, Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi has directed that an urgent investigation be opened into the circumstances surrounding the attacks and the sides behind them, with legal measures to be taken against anyone proven to be involved. He emphasized that the state will not tolerate any activity that puts Iraq or its relations with brotherly and friendly countries at risk.
The Iraqi government affirmed its commitment to continue working with brotherly and friendly countries to prevent the recurrence of such attacks, reinforce respect for the law and the principles of good-neighborliness, and protect Iraq’s interests while enhancing its positive role in its regional environment.
Iraq also reiterated that its territory and airspace will not be used as a launching point for attacks against any country, and that its policy is based on respecting the sovereignty of states, rejecting aggression against them, and working to ensure that its relations with its regional neighbors serve as a bridge for cooperation and stability, rather than a platform for tension and conflict.
