Diyala: The Diyala Police Command has disclosed the circumstances surrounding the murder of a woman inside her home in the Khanaqin district, located northeast of Baquba, the provincial capital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, after receiving a report at the Khanaqin Police Station about a deceased woman found in her home, a specialized security team was promptly assembled. This team comprised members from the Khanaqin Police Station, the Khanaqin Criminal Investigation Department, and forensic experts. Their mission was to delve into the details of the incident and uncover the circumstances surrounding the crime.

The statement from the police highlighted that through standard investigative procedures, such as examining the crime scene, collecting witness statements, and reviewing surveillance camera footage, it was concluded that the victim’s husband was responsible for the crime. The murder occurred inside their home due to personal disputes. Following the crime, the husband fled to one of the northern provinces where he is employed. Authorities have established coordination with the relevant security bodies in the Kurdistan Region to implement the necessary actions to arrest the accused and ensure his transfer to the competent judicial authorities for due legal process.

The Diyala Police Command reiterated its dedication to revealing the facts to the public and ensuring that no inaccurate information is disseminated, which could potentially lead to confusion.
