Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the recent agreement with Oman on the demarcation of waterways is solely related to the sovereignty of the two nations, dismissing any interference in Yemeni affairs.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei addressed the issue during a press conference, stating that the agreement between Iran and Oman is strictly about the sovereign rights of the two countries concerning their waterways. He emphasized that the discussions and subsequent agreement were purely a bilateral matter of sovereignty.

Baghaei also mentioned that a scheduled meeting in Salalah was canceled at the request of Saudi Arabia, citing the current situation in Yemen as the reason for the postponement. He clarified that Iran has no role in Yemen’s internal matters, suggesting that certain nations are attempting to leverage the situation to cast a negative light on Iran, accusing them of “fishing in troubled waters.”
