Baghdad: The Iraqi Meteorological Organization has forecasted an increase in dust levels and a drop in temperatures in the coming days.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the organization has issued a statement outlining the weather conditions expected over the next few days, highlighting changes in temperature and visibility due to dust.

The statement details that on Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will remain clear with temperatures similar to the previous days. However, Friday’s weather is anticipated to be generally clear with scattered clouds particularly over the southern region by afternoon. The wind patterns are expected to shift, with moderate northwesterly winds prevailing across most parts of the country, except the eastern regions where southeasterly winds will prevail, leading to rising dust in the central region during the afternoon hours. Visibility is expected to remain very good at 8-10 km, but may reduce to 4-6 km in dusty conditions.

Further, on Saturday, the weather is forecasted to be clear with scattered clouds over the southern region in the afternoon as temperatures decrease across Iraq. The statement provides a detailed forecast of maximum temperatures for Wednesday across various governorates, with Baghdad, Diyala, Karbala, and Diyala expected to reach 42°C, while cities like Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah might see 36°C. Other regions like Nineveh and Erbil are forecasted to reach 39°C, Anbar 41°C, and Kirkuk 40°C. Meanwhile, Wasit, Babylon, and Najaf could experience temperatures of 43°C, and Diwaniyah and Muthanna 44°C, with Maysan, Dhi Qar, and Basra likely to hit 45°C.
