Baghdad: Under the auspices of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi and French President Emmanuel Macron, six memoranda of understanding between Iraq and France were signed on Monday at the ‚¬°lys©e Palace in Paris.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the agreements cover various fields and sectors of bilateral economic cooperation. The memoranda include a Letter of Intent between the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and Harmattan AI focused on strategic cooperation in air defense. Additionally, a Declaration of Intent between the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and the French Ministry of the Armed Forces aims to secure French military equipment to support Iraq’s defense capabilities.

In the realm of youth, research, and innovation, a Declaration of Intent was signed between the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Further, a partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD) was outlined in another Declaration of Intent between the two countries’ foreign ministries.

An important Cooperation Protocol concerning a contract for the supply and sale of gas was established between the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and TotalEnergies. The final Declaration of Intent focuses on cooperation in civil aviation between the Iraqi and French ministries of transportation.

These agreements mark a significant step in strengthening the economic ties between Iraq and France.
