Baghdad: The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency announced on Thursday the dismantling of a money laundering and clandestine gambling den in the Karkh district of Baghdad.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agency revealed that preemptive intelligence strikes carried out by the detachments of the Intelligence Agency (Federal Police Intelligence) were instrumental in this operation. The action was based on precise intelligence information and diligent field monitoring of suspicious movements and locations. It was discovered that a residential house in Baghdad’s Karkh district had been converted into a secret gambling hall featuring games such as roulette and blackjack, and was also a haven for repeat offenders and suspicious individuals.
The agency’s statement further explained that all necessary legal procedures were completed, and judicial approvals were obtained before the operation. The house was subsequently raided, resulting in the arrest of three individuals caught in the act of gambling. Law enforcement officials seized all equipment related to the crime, including gambling paraphernalia, and other items linked to the suspicious activities. The confessions of those arrested were recorded and have been legally ratified.
