Strait of hormuz: The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Friday that it had targeted an oil tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz in an unauthorized manner.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Revolutionary Guard stated, “We targeted an oil tanker flying the flag of Togo while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz in an unauthorized manner.” The incident highlights ongoing tensions in the strategically crucial waterway, which is a vital conduit for global oil shipments.

Iranian state media quoted the Revolutionary Guard’s naval forces as saying that the oil tanker, named “Trend,” stopped after a fire broke out on board.
