Baghdad:President Nizar Amedi has declared that environmental protection is a national responsibility that necessitates practical plans and coordination among state institutions.

According to Iraqi News Agency, President Amedi made these remarks during a meeting at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad with Deputy Minister of Environment Iktefa’a Al-Hasnawi. The discussion focused on the significant challenges facing Iraq’s environmental situation and the strategies required to address pollution and climate change, protect natural resources, and enhance environmental management.

The meeting also explored various proposals to advance environmental efforts and bolster capacity to tackle current challenges. President Amedi emphasized the need for realistic and sustainable solutions, integrating environmental considerations into state development plans and projects.

He further highlighted the importance of improving the performance of environmental institutions, enhancing coordination among them, and leveraging scientific expertise and modern technology to reduce pollution sources.
