New York:Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi remains in New York following the conclusion of the United Nations meetings. Tehran is currently awaiting an official response from the United States regarding its proposal.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Araqchi’s stay in New York could extend until Wednesday, as indirect communications continue through intermediaries.

The Iranian proposal suggests that the United States should take initial steps such as lifting the naval blockade, easing sanctions on oil, and releasing frozen Iranian assets. In return, Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and engage in broader discussions, including on nuclear issues, within a week.

Iranian officials believe that while US President Donald Trump has rejected the proposal, this does not necessarily represent the final American position. They view Trump’s statement as an initial reaction rather than a definitive stance.
