Brussels:The Royal Theatre in Brussels recently hosted a remarkable concert titled ‘Clash of Cultures,’ featuring the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro David Navarro Torres. Among the composers highlighted were Iraqi composer Qutaiba Al-Nuaimi, Qatari composer Nasser Sahim, and Claude Ledoux.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Qutaiba Al-Nuaimi presented two of his compositions at the event. The first piece, ‘Across the Mountains,’ was performed by celebrated Iraqi violinist Alan Aref. The second, ‘The Date Palms,’ was performed by soprano Julie Gebhart, accompanied by the orchestra.

Qatari composer Nasser Sahim contributed with his works ‘Spirit of Maqam’ and ‘The Four Seasons,’ which incorporate elements of Gulf culture into a universal orchestral form. These performances included qanun player Tawfiq Marakhan and percussionist George Arwa.

Al-Nuaimi expressed to the Iraqi News Agency that events like these deliver a powerful message of coexistence, peace, and love among different cultures. He emphasized the role of music in enhancing cultural communication and stated that such artistic gatherings are crucial objectives of his musical projects.

Looking ahead, Al-Nuaimi announced the ‘Voices from Ireland’ concert at the Bozar Royal Theatre in Brussels on October 27, in celebration of Ireland’s presidency of the European Union. This event will feature the Brussels Philharmonic and the European Choir.

Additionally, Al-Nuaimi revealed plans for a concert titled ‘From the Euphrates to the Nile,’ scheduled for November 13 in Doha, Qatar. This performance will include the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and showcase a variety of Iraqi and Arab musical works.
