Basra:The Oil Ministry Undersecretary for Gas Affairs, Dr. Izzat Sabir Ismail, accompanied by the Director General of the South Gas Company, Ali Salman Majeed, conducted an inspection visit to the Artawi field in Basra Governorate. The visit aimed at providing direct support, shortening timelines, eliminating waste, and achieving optimal investment in gas projects.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the officials reviewed progress on the Accelerated Gas Investment Project (AG25), which has reached a 96% completion rate. This milestone is set to pave the way for the commencement of actual production soon.

The AG25 project is designed to process 50 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of raw gas from the “Yamama” formation. It plans to supply the national grid with over 40 million standard cubic feet of dry gas, significantly boosting power generation capacity.

Additionally, the Undersecretary inspected the strategic GMP project site, where the work completion rate has reached 35%. This project aims to reduce gas flaring and will initially utilize 300 million standard cubic feet of raw gas from the Majnoon, West Qurna 2, and Artawi fields. A second phase is in preparation to utilize an additional 300 million cubic feet from neighboring fields.

During the visit, Dr. Izzat Sabir Ismail emphasized adhering to contractual timelines and assured full support from the Iraqi government. He affirmed that state-owned oil companies’ resources would be mobilized to overcome obstacles, utilize associated gas, and minimize flaring rates.

The Undersecretary was joined by project managers from the South Gas Company and Basra Oil Company, as well as representatives from the field operator and contracting firms, highlighting the collaborative effort driving these national projects.
