Baghdad:Nineveh: Two soldiers lost their lives and two others were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) left by ISIS detonated in Nineveh province.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Defense Ministry reported that the incident occurred during a search operation in the northern Rawa desert, an area under the responsibility of the 27th Infantry Brigade. Major General Yehia Rasool, the ministry’s spokesman, confirmed that the explosion happened as the soldiers conducted their operation.
The wounded soldiers were immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The Defense Ministry extended its condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers and wished for the swift recovery of those injured.
Major General Rasool emphasized the Iraqi army’s commitment to ongoing operations aimed at pursuing terrorist groups, targeting their hideouts, and preventing them from establishing safe havens. The overarching goal is to eliminate remaining threats and secure lasting stability across the country.
